Supplier Capability Building

What is it about?

AIM-PROGRESS seeks to promote responsible sourcing practices throughout the supply chain, with particular focus on increasing supplier capability. AIM-PROGRESS members are collaborating to deliver joint supplier capability events to provide information, resources and tools to ensure suppliers understand and comply with responsible sourcing standards.

How is it done?

The events are organized either physically or by webinar and focus on a certain country/region. For example, in 2011 AIM-PROGRESS organized 2 physical events in Africa – South Africa and Kenya, as well as an event in Mexico and one in China. 2 webinars were also organized for Europe and the North American market. The organization is done via the local teams of branded goods manufacturers interested in co-organising the event, with one company taking over the role of host. In 2011 AIM-PROGRESS reached more than 1500 participants from approx. 750 companies. This is also the goal for 2012.

Event content & structure

The physical events last a whole day. The morning session is dedicated to setting the scene with senior leadership from participating companies introducing the importance of responsible sourcing in the context of sustainability and AIM-PROGRESS representatives introducing our activities. The afternoon focuses on local issue identification, corrective action planning and remediation, providing a forum to share questions & best practices. The sessions are ideally conducted in the local language, sometimes supported by translations services.

The webinars last between 90-120 minutes. They are regionally focused and used for Europe and North America.

Who is invited?

Focus is on packaging, ingredients and equipment suppliers of branded goods manufacturers. The number of invited suppliers depends on the event venue and number of participating AIM-PROGRESS members. In line with anti-trust law, invitations are sent by the respective branded goods manufacturers to their supplier base, who are asked to register on-line. Supplier connections to buyers remain confidential.

Who can access the presentations made at those events?

Everybody can! All presentations are on the public part of the AIM-PROGRESS website, categorised by event.

How do I know when and where the next event takes place?

AIM-PROGRESS members send out invitations to their supplier base as events are scheduled.
